On our third and final day, we had a few hours to spare before heading towards the airport to fly home, which seemed the perfect occasion for a visit to the Blue Lagoon.
The weather cleared up a bit after an hour or so there. It was a fun experience, but a little tourist-y. The mud and algae masks were fun, and my skin did feel fantastic afterwards, but my hair was pretty dried out and GROSS for the next 2 days. They do warn you about that. I wouldn't necessarily return - perhaps it's something everyone should try once, though. There are many other hot springs in Iceland, some perhaps more secluded and low key. I'd love to try one of those.
That pretty much concludes our time in Iceland! It is a wonderful, unusual, mesmerising country and I would honestly fly back tomorrow to do it all again. I would love to return to continue discovering the country and all it has to offer. If you're planning a weekend away (and have a driver's license), Reykjavik should be high on your list!
We're now in Tokyo, and jetlag got the better of me yesterday. Other than that, I'm falling in love with Japan already!
