Upon arrival to beautiful Bali, we asked our driver to take us directly to Tanah Lot to watch the sunset, bags and all. We made it there an hour before sunset, spending the time walking along the pathways and standing on the cliff's edge, watching the waves crash against the rocks. A lot of people visit at sunset as it's meant to be a spectacular sight, so I would recommend doing as we did and heading up towards some of the restaurants/cafes (go past the marketplace stores to the left) looking out over the temple and ocean. It was much more peaceful; we had seats right on the edge and ordered coconuts to drink and pork satays to munch on as we waited. Pretty good deal! Unfortunately, the clouds came out and were there to stay, so we didn't see the full-on sunset we'd hoped for. But you know what? The view was awesome nonetheless.
Tanah Lot is located in the Western part of Bali, about a 45 minute drive from Denpasar, and an hour from Ubud.
