I take a lot of long-haul flights. From visiting my family in Shanghai to the multi-country trips Jarv and I take, I have been flying long distance on a pretty regular basis since I was 12 years old and spending summers with my best friend in Sardinia (back when I lived in China). Last year alone I took about 27 flights, a third of which were five hours or longer.
As a result, I think I am a seasoned enough flyer to have my carry-on packing technique down to an art. Here's what I always take with me on board.
Earphones and music ready to go
Health & Beauty
Because I'm a little bit OCD when it comes to sanitation.
My eyes get so dry during flights. I wear lenses so I take these out and wear glasses - I'll never risk getting an eye ulcer again!
Pepto tablets for stomach trouble/nausea
Paracetamol for headaches.
A piece of fruit/healthy snack
As much as I love nibbling on in-flight snacks, healthy options are usually limited, and I don’t want to start my holiday feeling crappy before arrival.
Even in summer, I’ll pack a thin cardigan or jumper. You know they keep those planes at fridge temperature!
A very small handbag
To keep the beauty essentials in so that I’m not constantly getting out my luggage, or misplacing things. Also convenient for carrying products to the toilet.
Some currency for whichever country I'm flying to
Of course. Also, always carry a credit card in case of emergencies.
Don't forget your passport! Is there anything not on this list that you would add?
