How many of us dream of having a walk-in wardrobe at home, an entire room to organise, lovingly display and try on our treasured clothes, bags and shoes. Well, my mother's friend has taken things a step further and set up a home boutique. Two entire rooms in the basement of her house set up to display beautiful tailored jackets, floor-skimming dresses, matching sets and gorgeous wool coats. There are floor to ceiling mirrors, mannequins, even some sofa chairs and two changing rooms.
What an empowering and exciting idea, I thought, when we visited her home for dinner one evening during my time in Shanghai. Forget the search for a good location with decent rent - she sells pieces from the comfort and freedom of her home, inviting her many friends (and friends of friends) over for drinks, dinner and shopping. What an amazingly fun way to spend an evening! Which is exactly what we did.

DeleteHi Kamara,
ReplyDeleteThis is an innovative way of selling, indeed!! I just love the idea of going to someone's private home where you have a special appointment and are the only focus with all the attention on you! I saw a documentary about haute couture and it reminds me of that type of "royal" fashion experience!

It's a great concept, isn't it!
DeleteSo cool. A home boutique is a wonderful idea since it's not a very common practice. It gives buyers a homier & more comfortable environment to shop in. :]
