On our second night at the Conrad Koh Samui, we booked The Cellar for dinner. This isn't your average resort restaurant. For starters, The Cellar only takes one reservation per evening, up to a total of 8 people per booking, and is located in their private wine cellar, which holds over 3,000 vintage bottles.
From the moment you enter, there is an imposing sense of quiet formality and mystery. It almost feels quite serious. Of course, the cellar must be kept at a cool temperature for the sake of the wines, so do remember to bring a shawl or light jacket! Something I didn't even think to do, considering the humidity outside.

Their set menu features the decadent and luxurious truffle, from the frothy, moreish artichoke and black truffle veloute to Gulf of Thailand prawn risotto bursting with flavour, all the way to truffle panna cotta, chocolate truffles and a cheese plate the size of my head.
Having already enlisted Jarv's help to finish the steak, we - both stuffed to the brim - had to ask for the chocolates and cheese to be wrapped up for us to nibble on later. Far too full to even walk back to the room (to be fair, The Cellar is located at the highest point of the resort, a bit of a walk away from the villas), we flopped onto a golf buggy to be whisked away, spending the rest of the evening wallowing in the pool like hippos.
A night well worth experiencing, if you find yourself at the Conrad anytime soon.
