The Andaz 5th Avenue is ideally located near Bryant Park, directly opposite the New York Public Library. During our time there, most mornings were spent strolling to any number of fantastic nearby local coffee shops, bakeries, delis and parks (a mid-morning Shake Shack miso caramel concrete at Madison Square Park is totally acceptable on holiday).
Almost as large as our flat back home in London flat, the Andaz 5th Avenue's Splash suite features a reception, living room, walk-in marble rain shower and an impressive freestanding soaking tub set in a room of its own.
At the end of a long day walking around Manhattan it was great to return to our 'home' and spend some time unwinding, either by splashing about in the bath or enjoying the views from the bedroom. With this much space, it actually felt like we were living in New York, rather than just visiting.

A typical benefit of Andaz hotels, snacks are provided free of charge to give you the feeling of being at home, being able to help yourself to the food in your cupboard.

By the way, how dreamily does the light beam in through those sheer curtains?

The exquisite bathing room for which the Splash Suite is named:

Which, via the folding doors on the right, joins onto the rest of the bathroom. These doors can be pinned back out of the way in order to open up and brighten the room.

When our friends came up to visit, one of them wound up stuck in the bathroom trying to figure out the doors. Between the bathroom doors, regular doors and closets - all of which are the same colour - you can see why!
Finally, the bedroom itself. With black out blinds to shut out all light and noise come bed time and sheer curtains that rise all the way up during the day, it is here that one can enjoy a peaceful drink overlooking the Public Library in one direction and looking up at the Empire State building in the other.

I slept very well, dreaming of the food lover's paradise that is New York and the adventures to come...
That bath!! It's very clean and chic.
