When I first saw this cardigan hanging in my mother's friend's boutique (the one in her basement...it's a lot classier than it sounds!), I took it off the hanger. I wasn't sure - I don't usually tend to go for overtly Chinese or oriental designs, but something about it just drew me in. It reminds me of the paintings that used to hang in my uncle's Chinese restaurant in Austria and I get such a sense of nostalgia when I wear it. Now, it's become a fast favourite. I wish you could feel the incredible softness of the cashmere - it's absolutely divine, enveloping me in a cocoon of gentle warmth.
When I posted this look on Instagram, I was asked how to achieve it. It's really as simple as it seems! Simply button up the shirt around your body as usual, except with your arms out of the sleeves (sort of like a crop top). With the sleeves hanging by your sides, take them and tie them tightly under your bust in a bow/knot, so that they sit comfortably without shifting. Added bonus - as a woman with almost no bust, this technique made me look a tad...fuller.
More and more often lately I look at my wardrobe and feel uninspired, unexcited and even a little frustrated. So, it felt good to reuse an old piece that I barely wear and make it feel fresh and interesting again. I'm cutting down drastically and either donating, throwing out or selling items that I haven't worn in an age (or even at all). Have a look at my shop section if you're interested in doing a little light shopping!

DeleteI love seeing how people are styling shirts for the new season - so many weird and wonderful suggestions, though this one comes out on top; it's perfect! The embroidery on the back of the longline cardigan truly is so, so beautiful...
