Yep, back we flew for Memorial Day weekend. I just can't get enough. New York is such an exciting place with a fantastically diverse and high quality food culture and it's fast become one of my favourite cities for a short getaway. On this occasion, we decided to begin our stay with a night across the water - at the Hyatt Regency New Jersey.

I don't entirely understood the disdain some NY-ers seem to have for NJ, but I like that side of the river! It's still somewhat 'up and coming' but great little spots have opened up (try Razza for freshly made pizza with seasonal ingredients, and definitely go to Short Grain for an amazing Vietnamese cold brew) and it has a cool, laidback vibe.

Over in NY, we visited some of the usuals: had drinks at Mother of Pearl, hung out around Bryant Park, got our coffee fix at Blue Bottle, etc. We did try out a few great new (to us) food spots, which I'll share with you in the next NY post.

But I'm telling you...don't write off New Jersey. It's well worth checking out, and I will definitely stay at the Hyatt Regency there again. How amazing is our suite? Just waking up to that view of the NY skyline was enough to sell me.

  13. I mean.... I've stayed at Hyatts before and none of them looked like this. This has to be a new property or newly renovated, looks absolutely amazing ;) xx Adaleta Avdic

    1. Haha, I get what you mean! It depends on the level and location, I think. There are some Grand Hyatts that are very average and some that are amazing, same with Hyatt Regency hotels. Park Hyatts on the other hand...tend to always be fantastic!
