Wolford - a name synonymous with grown up glamour, elegance and femininity. Renowned for the longevity of their hosiery, it's a brand I've grown up appreciating. My mother has worn their tights for over 20 years (in fact, upon finding out that I was shooting these looks, she whipped out a pair from her wardrobe that were 10 years old and still going strong). I too have turned to them for chic and classic stockings and tights.
When they asked me to style a few of their limited edition Diamond Shine pieces for New Year's Eve, I knew instantly where I'd shoot the first look. Nowadays, I tend to spend my NYEs either at home with Jarv, occasionally with a few friends over, drinking champagne and eating grapes (a Spanish tradition), or at a luxury hotel. Last year we were in Singapore with some friends from New York - we had drinks in our suite and at the hotel lounge before heading out to see the fireworks. That's more my style - understated but luxurious, nothing too crazy, just good friends in a cosy & elegant setting. No intense hangover the next day.
So, the Park Hyatt Shanghai, where we were spending a few nights with my parents over the Christmas period, was the perfect location to shoot the fits-like-a-glove Diamond Shine skirt and body. The two pieces can easily be mistaken for a sparkly dress when worn together; very NYE appropriate. As for outfit number two, I feel that one should still look the part when entertaining at home, whether you end up staying in all night or going out afterwards. Pearls, an LBD and Wolford's Diamond Shine tights: an outfit for the woman who still likes to make an effort, even if it's just two of you in the privacy of your own home.
